STEM robot workshop for teachers

Recently at the end of April on an afternoon after the main school activities the leadership group of a local school, Wellington Secondary College, attended a two-hour STEM exploration workshop at our offices.  It was a hands-on session that had an objective to introduce STEM thinking and exploration using a  small popular Makeblock mBot robotics kit.

The aim of the workshop was for the leadership group to experience the mechanics, electronics and computer science coding as well as building and operating the little robots.

This enabled them to get an understanding from the students learning perspective, whilst having a lot of fun! There was of course a healthy amount of good-natured competition amongst these educators! Everyone proudly had a working robot that could avoid obstacles and follow lines at the end of the session even those who had never attempted anything like this before. Have a look at the intensity!
