Let's talk robotics with Associate Professor Teresa Vidal Calleja!

Joining me in episode 60 is Associate Professor Teresa Vidal Calleja! Teresa is Associate Professor at the UTS Robotics Institute and Deputy Head of School (Research) of the School of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at UTS. She is also board member of the Australian Robotics & Automation Association (ARAA) and Senior member of the IEEE.

Teresa is a robotics expert focusing on enabling field robots and intelligent systems to be deployed in environments that are hazardous or difficult for people to access. She has made significant contributions in the area of robotic sensing and perception with extensive experience in leading fundamental and industry-funded projects. Her research in robotic perception has enabled technology to be deployed in the Sydney Water network and NSW train stations.

She obtained her PhD from the Technical University of Catalonia in Spain and held postdoctoral positions at LAAS-CNRS in France and the Australian Centre for Field Robotics at the University of Sydney before joining UTS where she held the prestigious UTS Chancellor’s postdoctoral research fellowship. She has been a visiting scholar at other world-class laboratories such as the Active Vision Lab at the University of Oxford, the Autonomous Systems Lab at ETH-Zurich and the German Aerospace Centre (DRL).
